At Mother Goose, we help communities, companies, organizations and Government bodies set-up onsite daycare facilities. Following a detailed Needs Assessment, we embark on setting up the onsite daycare facility. Our approach is guided by the following principles:
  1. Well-trained staff capable of providing interactions with children that meet their developmental needs.
  2. Maintenance of consistent child-caregiver relationships via low staff turnover.
  3. Promotion of good health through health and nutrition practices.
  4. Safe, well-maintained, adequately supervised physical environment.
  5. Developmentally appropriate activities.
  6. Collaboration with parents.
  7. Communication with parents about decisions that affect their children.
  8. Cultural sensitivity and a commitment to respect each child’s cultural uniqueness.

Solutions

Based on the client’s needs, we will either;
  1. Renovate and upgrade an existing building, room, facility to bring it to our standards, or,
  2. We will build a new facility from scratch.

Play Focused Activities

There is a mountain of research that shows that children develop best when they play. All crèche activities are therefore focused and centred on play, namely;
  1. The entire crèche environment focuses on play.
  2. Caregivers are trained to deliver play focused learning.
  3. Activities are centred around play.
There are four primary areas that Mother Goose Kenya will focus on as a solution to the identified needs. These are:
  1. Zoning for play and other activities – the crèche is zoned to cater to different age groups and activities.
  2. Health, Safety and Nutrition – the design of thecrèche ensures a healthy, well-maintained and safe environment for the children. We also implement a health, safety and nutrition policy and develop a policy handbook that details these policies.
  3. Recruitment and Training of Caregivers – during staffing, we ensure the professionally recommended ratios are met. We also ensure that all staff have specialized education in childcare.
  4. Introduction of a Curriculum –  Research has demonstrated that infants and toddlers learn best through play. They also change and grow so quickly the curriculum must adjust to the developmental level. Thus, activities are designed as prototypes for the different age groups in thecrèche. These activities are divided into five domains of learning, namely; Social Awareness, Language and communication skills, Cognitive Development, Sensory-motor skills and Creative development.
